LONDON(ICIS)--First-quarter results from the Port of Antwerp,Europe's second largest and the locationof the region's biggest integrated chemicals cluster(according to the port)make telling reading.The strains on global logistics,brought about by the pandemic and by the pumping of cash into the USeconomy,are ongoing and not winding down as many would have hoped by now.Container traff ic continues to be disrupted.Total throughput of the port is down-and that is comparedto a diff icult in parts first quarter of 2021.In addition,now the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine is being felt,with sanctions hitting containertrade and,particularly,trade in fertilizers.At the same time,however,bulk liquid trade of chemicals and petroleum products through the port is upstrongly.
