China’s lithium carbonate imports and hydroxide exports increased in the frst quarter of this year, on growing demand from the lithium-ion power battery sector. China imported 27,497t of lithium carbonate during January-March, up by 44pc on the year, customs data show. Chile was the largest exporter to China, accounting for 90pc of the total, followed by 9pc from Argentina and 1pc from South Korea. The average import price increased from $12.20/kg in January to $17/kg in February, and $21.60/kg in March.
