EU ETS auction cancelled on weak demand

Today’s primary market sale of carbon allowances under the EU emissions trading system (ETS) failed to clear after attract- ing insufcient demand for the available permits. The auction, which was held on the European Energy Exchange (EEX), had been due to sell 2.66mn Poland-issued al- lowances, but was cancelled after the number of bids submit- ted only totalled 2.33mn.
