The Arnolt-Bristol was a remarkable car that was the product of a colorful man. Stanley Arnolt made a fortune from military contracts during World War II. Often wearing a suit with cowboy boots and hat, the six-foot-plus "Wacky"-as friends called him-cut a colorful figure in the Fifties sports car world. In 1952, he walked into the Turin Auto Show and ordered 200 Bertone-bodied MG TDs-probably saving the nearly bankrupt Bertone in the process. The pretty Bertone MG coupe and convertible were sold in America as the Arnolt-MG, until MG discontinued the TD chassis after only 100 were built. Arnolt's next major automotive project was a sports car on an English Bristol chassis.
