摘要

Author describes relationship between leptin, Canine C-reactive protein (CRP), adiponectin, and insulin to body condition score (BCS) and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids alpha-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentanenoic acid (DPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in 77 Persian Mastiff dogs. Multivariate regression was applied to determine correlations between these variables. Results showed that linoleic and arachidonic acids were most abundant ~14 % whereas a-linoleic, docopentanoicand eicopentanoic acids ranged 0.18-1.53%. Enhanced adiponectin correlated (P 0.36). Higher serum insulin was associated (P < 0.001) with BCS in lean, overweight, and obese dogs. Results suggest long-chain linolenic acid omega 3 supplements may manage obesity in Mastiff dogs.
