TEXAS natural gas production and export facilities are positioned to play an important role in the expansion of US liquefied natural gas exports, according to a new report from the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO). The industry trade group noted that 88% of current US LNG exports are located on the US Gulf Coast. Approximately 37% of that amount comes from two facilities in Texas - Freeport LNG and Cheniere's Corpus Christi LNG facility. With as many as four more export terminals either under construction or in the development phase, the state could be home to more than one-quarter of the nation's additional capacity. "North America, led by the United States, is expected to contribute to 75% of total global LNG growth by 2024 with the development and expansion of new infrastructure," TIPRO said. "With most of the supply of natural gas coming out of the Gulf Coast and the bulk of the export facilities being built there, that means Texas will play an even more important role in supplying the energy that will help lower global emissions."
