One of the great things about Sixties American cars is that they could be ordered almost any way the customer desired. Some truly unique vehicles came down the lines. A fully-optioned near-luxury car could have a three-on-the-tree. A bare-bones base model might have factory air, while a Cadillac could be shipped without a heater. A highly desirable anomaly is this 1966 Chevrolet Impala nine-passenger station wagon ordered with a 390-bhp, 427-cid V-8 and four-speed manual transmission. The man who ordered this car back in late 1965 was an Iowa dermatologist who seems to have had a taste for performance since he also owned a maroon Corvette that matched his new maroon wagon.
