Indonesia launched its second bidding round with three oil and gas blocks on offer under the Indonesia Petroleum Bidding Round, the country's Directorate General of Oil and Gas said on July 25 at the IPA Convention and Exhibition in Jakarta. One of the blocks is Natuna D-Alpha in offshore East Natuna, the largest unexplored gas resource in Southeast Asia region. With a size of over 10,000 sq km, the block is expected to hold an estimated 350 million barrels of oil and 230 Tcf of gas resources, although it holds a high concentration of carbon dioxide as well. The remaining two blocks are Patin in onshore Riau, as well as Panai in onshore and offshore North Sumatra and Riau. Indonesia offered three blocks in the first bidding round of the year, while at least eight Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) have been signed this year.
