ANGOLA has extended the closing date of its debut onshore licensing round to give bidders more time to assess geological and geophysical data, and has also reduced the fee to access the all-important data packages. ANPG, the country's regulatory authority, said this week that the deadline for submitting bids for acreage in the Kwanza and Congo basins has been pushed back 30 days to 9 July. It added that the decision to push back the deadline was because "various interested companies" have requested extra time to "better understand" all data about the nine offered blocks and additional clarity on the bid round process. ANPG has also decided to reduce the mandatory fee - originally priced at $1 million - to access data packages on the blocks, but did not state what the lower entry fee would be.
