Citgo refneries lag pre-pandemic rates

Citgo refneries ran well below pre-pandemic rates in the third quarter partly as a result of operational issues, helping spur a third-quarter loss for the US refning subsidiary of Venezuelan national oil company PdV. Citgo’s three US refneries ran at a combined average crude throughput of 654,000 b/d in the third quarter, compared with 461,000 b/d in the third quarter last year and 724,000 b/d in the period in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted energy demand.
