The electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power for solid solutions of La_(1.9)Sr_(0.1)Cu_(0.9)M_(0.1)O_4 (M = Li, Ni and Co) prepared by polymeric precursor synthesis were measured between 300 and 1173 K. While Li~+ substitution in Sr doped samples increases the electrical conductivity and decreases thermoelectric power, as expected for an increase in the hole concentration by charge compensation, Ni~(2+) or Co~(3+) substitution affects the temperature dependence of electrical conductivity by localization of charge carriers, especially at low temperatures. However, at elevated temperatures the conduction parameter was not effectively varied.
