We introduce quantum magnetic sensing using bulk diamond containing nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers. NV centers work as magnetometers under ambient conditions. Beyond sensing using a single NV center, the utilization of a large number of NV centers in bulk diamond can improve the magnetic sensitivity, which is suitable for various applications. Here, we briefly describe the sensing principle behind using NV centers and introduce sensing systems based on bulk diamond sensors and our recent demonstrations of magnetocardiography for living rats and battery monitoring for electrical vehicles.
