ARA coal stocks fall despite higher imports

Coal stocks at the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) transshipment hub fell last week despite higher imports and continued low German hard-coal generation. Combined stocks at the ARA hub’s main ports were down by 150,000t in the week to 2 July, at 6.14mn t. This was a fall of 2.4pc from last week but still about 225,000t above the previous five-year average.
