SCOTRAIL'S FLEET of 40 Class 334 electric multiple units are to undergo a £12 million modernisation project by Alstom. The Class 334s - which were built by Alstom - are used on services between Edinburgh and Glasgow and were introduced in 2001. The trains are owned by Eversholt Rail and leased to ScotRail. The modernisation project will see the trains' pneumatic and electrical components such as auto couplers, gangways, batteries, underframeair valves, toilets and the driving cabs heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems overhauled.
