Universal Robots debuted its 20-kg payload robot, the UR20, presented in a solution developed by Robotiq. The UR20 provides up to a 65% increase in speed depending on joint type and a 25% increase in joint torque capacity. Its new joint architecture puts less stress on arm mechanics. The UR20's kinematics easily covers both the pallets and an infeed at the same time. During a demonstration at PACK EXPO 2022, Universal Robots showed how the technology increases speed and torque by 30%, utilizing the extended reach of the UR20 for 1800mm stack heights. Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection launched its most advanced x-ray inspection technology to date, improving the ability to detect low density contaminants in packaged food products. New Mettler-Toledo DXD and DXD+ dual energy detector technology is optimized for identifying foreign bodies such as calcified bone, low-mineral glass, rubber and some plastics. In conjunction with new Mettler-Toledo Advanced Material Discrimination software tools, the technology helps separate and remove unwanted material of the food product within the x-ray image. As a result of the accuracy and reliability of DXD and DXD+ detection, food manufacturers can be more confident that their products are safe for consumers.
