ELECTRIC VERTICAL take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developments generally involve commercial passenger and cargo transportation, but BAE Systems and Brazil's Eve are to explore their potential for defence and security applications BAE said the joint study "builds on Eve's development for the urban air mobility market and will look at how the aircraft could provide cost-effective, sustainable and adaptable capability" for defence. Engineers from BAE Systems' Air division and Embraer Defense and Security team in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil will examine "how a defence variant could be used for a range of applications such as personnel transportation, surveillance and reconnaissance, disaster relief and humanitarian response".
