Alcoa posted higher revenues in the frst quarter as the Russia- Ukraine confict pushed LME settlements to historic highs, ofsetting lower shipments. Revenues for the US-based aluminium producer grew by 14pc to $3.3bn in the frst quarter from a year earlier, support- ed by a 115pc increase in the quarterly average Midwest pre- mium and a 25pc increase in quarterly average LME aluminium settlements over the same period.
