Close to the inner City A stainless steel box with projecting, sharp-edged metal window shutters, black, gloss-painted strips of expanded metal, matt black flashings. This housing project is completely different to the typical Vorarlberg wooden box. The location is Rohr-bach, a part of the city bordered to the north by the train station and the centre of Dornbirn. Today this is a growing area, where the fields between the single-family houses are increasingly giving way to multi-storey apartment buildings - the kind of increase in density that, if implemented with the requisite quality, will certainly benefit this area of the city. The "Farberhof" shows what a feeling for quality can produce, in complete contrast to many of the faceless building developer projects to be found in the surrounding area. In earlier times Rohrbach was the location of the Dornbirn textile industry, the most important business was the factory of Franz Martin Rhomberg. The Farberhof site borders directly on Rhomberg's factory, where the production of textiles ceased a long time ago. The site is now a large business park and the location of the Spielboden, an important culture centre.
