The installation of the visbreaker at PKN (Men's 276K-b/d Plock refinery in Poland, which was first reported in the Feb. 10 Digest, will allow the refinery to increase production of diesel and gasoline and is expected to begin commercial operations by the end of 2022. President Daniel Obajtek of PKN Orlen stated, "We are optimizing production in line with our stated strategy. We are closely monitoring the macro environment. It is the reason why we are growing our core business lines - oil refining, PCs, and power generation. The key to success is to accelerate investment processes so that we are able to start earning profits as soon as possible. The visbreaker at the Plock refinery is a case in point. It will help us effectively respond to the growing demand for high-margin products, while strengthening our position on the competitive international market." PKN Orlen has previously utilized visbreaking technology at its refineries in the Czech Republic and Lithuania. The project is now expected to cost IB zlotys (}260MM) and will increase the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) by 415MM zlotys ($106.43MM).
