UK-UK chemicals companies have voiced concerns over the direction of Brexit negotiations and the costs that might apply under a UK REACH chemicals safety regime.In particular,the Chemical Industry Association(CIA)believes the costs of registering products under UK REACH-as proposed by the country's Health & Safety Executive-are disproportionate to the country's market size.This,argues London-based CIA,could deter companies from registering products,leading to the loss of chemicals that are essential for UK manufacturers and consumers.In an analysis issued recently the chemical and pharma makers'body estimated that registration under the UK REACH would cost industry around €1.1 billion.
