The mature larvae of Intybia histrio (Kiesenwetter, 1874) were found under barks of the trees and the larval faecal cases of a leaf beetle, Chlamisns laticollis (Chujo;. The mature larva of I. histrio is described and some biological information are presented here. The larvae of three common Japanese Intybia species became able to be distinguished by the place of head marking.Eight species of the malachiine genus Intybia Pascoe, 1866 are found in Japan (Ikeda & Yoshitomi, 2017). Seven Japanese species, namely Intybia histrio (Kiesenwetter, 1874), Intybia kawasakii (Nakane, 1956), Intybia kishiii (Nakane, 1955), Intybia niponica (Lewis, 1895), Intybia pelegrini pelegrini (Pic, 1910), Intybia tsushimensis (Sato and Ohbayashi, 1968), and Intybia takaraensis (Nakane, 1955), were transferred from the genus Laius Guerin-Meneville, 1830 by Wittmer (1995). Recently, Ikeda and Yoshitomi (2017) described a new species, Intybia donan Ikeda and Yoshitomi, 2017 and redescribed the morphology of the seven species known from Japan. They suggested that the Japanese species can be divided into two species groups, the pelegrini and the histrio groups, based on the endophallic structure.
