In June 2020, Queens, N.Y.-based M&M Environmental, dbaM&M Pest Control (MMPC), was involved in a dispute that would eventually make national news, severely damaging the company’s otherwise stellar reputation.The conflict arose between MMPC and Barry Myrick, a former employee who was the handler and supervisor of Roxy, one of the company’s trained bed bug-sniffing dogs. Myrick’s contract stipulated he would return Roxy to MMPC should he ever stop working for the company. The situation got messy at the start of the pandemic (March 2020) when Myrick expressed to Tim Wong, founder and president of MMPC, that he felt uncomfortable working.
