Mitigation measures down on the farm

Duynisvelds' diverse operation featured on Open Farm Day. Open Farm Day, on Sept. 26, brought glorious autumn weather in Nova Scotia, offering a perfect opportunity for the public to visit John and Jane Duynisveld's Holdanca Farms and learn how the agricultural industry is working to ward greenhouse gas mitigation. The mixed farm in Wallace Bay was a demonstration site for the Eastern Canada Soil and Water Conservation Centre (ECSWCC), based in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. There was plenty for visitors to see. The Duynisvelds produce eggs, chickens, and turkeys under conditions certified by the Nova Scotia Free Range Poultry Producers Marketing Association And although the certification applies to the poultry, the cattle and hogs on the farm are raised in accordance with the same standards.
