TALKING at a recent Airbus Trade Media Brief in Madrid in mid December, Airbus D&S head of combat aircraft, Andreas Hammer said he was confident of further Spanish Air Force Eurofighter orders. They would replace the 60+ EF-18M Hornets serving Ala 12 at Torrejon and Ala 15 at Zaragosa. His view comes after the Spanish government signed the Halcon deal, with Eurofighter GmbH for 20 Tranche 4 Eurofighters in June. The contract is for 16 single-seaters and four dual-seaters, earmarked as replacements for the Ala 46 F/A-18A Hornets based at Gando, Canary Islands.
