Elusive superconducting signature seen in cuprates

Researchers in the US have observed the so-called “fourth signature” of superconducting phase transitions in a bismuth-based “cuprate”. The result, obtained via photoemission spectroscopy in the cuprate Bi2212, could shed fresh light on how these materials enter the superconducting state (Nature 601 562).
