ExxonMobil has unveiled a new discovery on its Stabroek block offshore Guyana. The US supermajor hit 70 metres of net pay at the Longtail-3 appraisal well, which included newly identified, high-quality, hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs below the maiden Longtail-1 discovery intervals. The well was drilled in more than 1860 metres of water by the drillship Stena DrillMax, which will move on to spud the Whiptail-1 exploration well. Also on Stabroek, ExxonMobil said drilling of the Mako-2 well confirmed the quality, thickness and areal extent of the reservoir, but added results from the Koebi-1 wildcat had "shown evidence of non-commercial hydrocarbons", without elaborating.
