A leading US-based offshore contractor has submitted the only bid for a prized transportation and installation (T&I) contract for India's Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) involving unfinished work on its $5 billion Cluster 2 deep-water development, off the country's east coast.State-owned ONGC is spending billions of dollars to ramp up oil and gas production from its Krishna Godavari basin deep-water assets, which are expected to contribute more than 35 million cubic metres per day of gas and up to 77,000 barrels per day of oil at peak.McDermott International of the US emerged as the sole bidder for the T&I contract on the unfinished Cluster 2 project, two people with direct knowledge of the bid process told Upstream.India's Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was also said to be chasing the offshore project but did not bid."L&T wanted more time to progress with the Cluster 2 T&I bid, but ONGC denied an additional extension period," one source noted.
