Oxy, Western Midstream Sign CCUS Agreement

Occidental Petroleum has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with master limited partnership (MLP) Western Midstream Partners to explore carbon capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS) opportunities in West Texas and Colorado. The agreement will see the pair consider the installation of carbon capture equipment in their respective assets in the Delaware subbasin of the larger Permian Basin and in the Denver-Julesberg (DJ) Basin, as well as collaborate on the marketing of their offtake and utilization operations. Western Midstream will also provide CO2 transportation services to offtake facilities operated by Oxy, which will sequester the CO2 or utilize it for enhanced oil recovery and other purposes.
