A great destroyer of many an umbrella, Chicago is world famous for its wind. Its nickname, after all, is the Windy City. But Chicago is also a place of ice. Lots of ice. From November to April, it forms ubiquitously on trees, sidewalks, roads and waterways. Chunks and projectiles fall from skyscrapers, prompting frequent warnings from the authorities. There's more to Chicago's seasonally frozen reputation, however, than the lake effect and the arctic chill. By late spring, soon after Old Man Winter has gone into hibernation, CenTrio skates out with its own ice and cold operation.
