Chinese coal buyers have learned to “get by without Australian coal” during a two-year informal ban on imports from there, while supply constraints on Australian production limit exporters to merely “tweaking” current trade flows, according to shipbroker BRS. While several Australian coal shipments are already unloading in China or are en route, the flow may not bounce back to pre-ban levels.
