California lawmakers sent a bill to Gov. Gavin Newsom's desk this week to require setbacks of 3,200 feet between new oil and natural gas production sites and homes, daycares, schools, hospitals and other sensitive locations. The legislation, which was sent to Newsom before the California legislative session ended on Wednesday, would require what are among the largest setbacks established by a state law.
