India's crude steel production rose 12% in July from the same period last year and was broadly steady from June, while exports jumped, tracking firm international steel prices, according to initial estimates by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) of India's Ministry of Steel. Production in July was a provisional 9.73 mt, up from a revised 9.36 mt in June but essentially steady when accounting for the extra day in July. Production was up more sharply from 8.69 mt in July last year.
