Chinese copper flat rolled production decreased 5.7% y/y in 2021 Q2, partly due to theelevated base level in 2020 Q2 brought about by the fulfilment of orders delayed in 2020 Q1due to Covid-19. In addition, rapidly rising and high copper price also affected semi-fabricatedproducts output, with manufacturers and their customers struggling to manage workingcapital balances and deferring unnecessary purchases of raw materials and goods as aresult. Copper alloy flat-rolled producers were facing similar headwinds in 2021 Q2 andoutput fell by 4.7% y/y as a result.
