The neunerhaus association manages supervised housing for formerly homeless people and also provides mobile care and mobile medical service. Next to their offices at Margaretenstra?e 166, two rooms had been set up to enable doctors to practise general medicine and dentistry. These proved woefully insufficient. So when the restaurant on the ground floor closed, architect Maki Ortner was commissioned to design a fully barrier-free, accessible healthcare centre for people and animals. The plans also included a cafe that would serve both the neunerhaus staff and interested members of the public. Anyone who makes a voluntary donation can get a freshly cooked lunch of organic vegetables. The cafe was conceived for a broad target group - from homeless people seeking support to creatives from the surrounding area.
