摘要

Abstract Long-term scheduling and short-term decision-making for water resource management often require an understanding of the relationships of the water yield pattern between the annual and monthly scales. As the water yield pattern mainly depends on land cover/use and climate, a unifying catchment water balance model with factors was adopted to derive a theoretical water yield pattern at annual and monthly scales. Two critical values at parameters ε?=?1???2documentclass[12pt]{minimal} usepackage{amsmath} usepackage{wasysym} usepackage{amsfonts} usepackage{amssymb} usepackage{amsbsy} usepackage{mathrsfs} usepackage{upgreek} setlength{oddsidemargin}{-69pt} begin{document}$$sqrt 2$$end{document}/2 and ??=?1.0 are identified. Parameter ε referring to water storage (land use/cover) and evaporation (climate) changes can make a greater contribution than ? to water yield when ??>?1.0, especially with ε??1.0, there are no significant linear relationships between annual and monthly parameters ε and ?, respectively. Our results not only validate the derived theoretical water yield pattern with the estimated parameter directly by observed and simulated data rather than the calibrated parameter but can also guide further understanding the physical water balance to conversion time scales for the combination of long- and short-term water resource management.
