Oil production in North Dakota rose by 9 in February from the previous month as drilling activity steadied and well completions improved, according to preliminary data from the state’s Department of Mineral Resources (DMR). Operators in North Dakota, which is home to most of the prolific Bakken tight oil play, pumped 1.1 million barrels per day of crude in February, up from 1.06 million b/d in January. It marks the second month in a row that production in the state has risen since winter weather dragged it down in December. The data from the DMR show that February's production increase came despite the state rig count staying flat at 46. However, 96 wells were completed during the 28-day month, nearly 30 more than in January.
