Caminurella, replacement name for Caminella Krantz Ainscough, 1960 (Acari, Uropodina, Trachytidae), preoccupied by Caminella Lendenfeld, 1894 (Demospongiae, Tetractinellida, Geodiidae)

The generic name Caminella Lendenfeld, 1894 was established for a species of sponge from the Adriatic Sea. Since then the name has been used a number of times (Inoue, 1985; Tarasov et al., 2003; Cárdenas et al., 2011, 2018; Rios et al., 2020). The generic name Cominella Gray, 1850 (Mollusca) has sometimes been spelled incorrectly as Caminella (e.g. Polson & Selzer, 1957). The generic name Caminella Krantz & Ainscough, 1960 was established for a species of mite from Oregon, USA. Since then the name has been used a number of times (Compton & Krantz, 1978; Ainscough, 1981; Halliday, 2015; Proctor et al., 2015; Marquardt & Kaczmarek, 2019a, 2019b; Moraza & Pérez-Martínez, 2019). Caminella Krantz & Ainscough, 1960 is a junior homonym of Caminella Lendenfeld, 1894 and has no available synonyms. We therefore propose the new replacement name Caminurella Krantz & Halliday to replace Caminella Krantz & Ainscough, 1960. The name Caminurella is derived from Caminella with the interpolation of -ur- from Uropodina (Gender feminine).
