CHINESE offshore operator CNOOC Ltd is ready to launch a big tender as part of a push to procure dozens of subsea production systems in northern China's Bohai bay. Several people familiar with CNOOC Ltd's development plan told Upstream of the company's recent moves to brief international contractors about plans to issue SPS contracts to help develop the QHD 29-2 oil field in shallow waters in Bohai Bay. The SPS for this field encompasses between 75 and 78 subsea trees connected to a new fixed platform through up to 10 manifolds, each with a control system. Sources familiar with the project said the manifolds will be served by up to four subsea production systems. They said that oil included in the new development will include production from the existing Bohai Shiji floating production, storage and offloading vessel, cur- rently serving the QHD 32-6 field in the same sea area.
