US-based MATHESON has entered into a gas supply agreement with carbon reduction specialist lPointFive to provide oxygen for the company's first direct air capture (DAC) plant in Texas, US. The US operating arm of industrial gases giant Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation (NSHD), MATHESON will build an air separation unit (ASU) to supply much needed oxygen to lPointFive's 'Stratos' DAC plant. Oxygen is used in the DAC process to produce a pure stream of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is then permanently stored in underground geologic reservoirs.
