A new mesochrysopid (Insecta: Neuroptera) from Upper Cretaceous

The extinct Mesozoic family Mesochrysopidae Handlirsch, 1906 consist of 16 genera and 29 species. These species are described from the Early Jurassic to the Late Cretaceous (Yang et al. 2012a; Liu et al. 2016; Khramov & Nam 2020; Cao et al. 2021; Nakamine 2021). There are only two species found from the Upper Cretaceous of Myanmar: Pedanoptera arachnophila Liu et al., 2016 and Burmotachinymphes bilobata Cao, Wang & Liu, 2021 (Liu et al. 2016; Cao et al. 2021). For a long time, the status of Mesochrysopidae is full of different opinions, now Mesochrysopidae are generally considered as a valid family including three subfamilies: Allopterinae Zhang, 1991; Mesochrysopinae Handlirsch, 1906 and Tachinymphinae, Nel et al., 2005 (Ren et al. 2010; Cao et al. 2021).
