This summer, At Home reached a milestone with the opening of its 250th store, which also marked its entry into the upstate New York market of Buffalo. Now operating in 40 states, the company has set a goal of operating 700 locations. At Home classifies the majority of its locations as "second-generation retail." The company looks to site its 100,000-sq.-ft. units in high-traffic retail nodes adjacent to other best-in-class retailers. The big boxes house big assortments - up to 50,000 products, including furniture, bedding, bath, dec pillows, rugs, curtains, home decor, storage and organization, wall art and gifts. A Top 25 retailer on HTT's annual Retail Giants ranking, At Home generated nearly $475 million in home textiles sales in 2021. At Home evolved from the former Garden Ridge retail chain and in 2014 invested $20 million in a massive rebranding project that included a name change and a significant store redesign that better reflected its whole home offerings. The company, which is based in Piano, Texas, went private in summer 2021 when it was acquired by private equity firm Hellman Friedman.
