Carbios and IVL Enter Non-Binding MoU To Form JV for PET Biorecycling Project

Paris— Carbios and Indorama Ventures (IVL) said they have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a joint venture for the construction of the "world's first" polyethylene terephthalate (PET) biore-cycling facility in France (PCN, 28 Feb 2022, p 2). The project, estimated to cost around €230-million, will be build on IVL's PET production site in Longlaville and will have the capacity to process about 50,000 t/y of post-consumer PET waste, including waste that is not recyclable mechanically. Construction is expected to start by the end of this year with start-up planned in 2025.
