If you'd asked us where to look for low carbon transport innovation just a few years ago, the answer would have been simple: the automotive sector. And whilst there's little doubt that car makers remain the most visible and - arguably - enthusiastic adopters of environmentally clean technologies (see this issue's news story on JLR's ramped up electrification plans page 8 ) they are no longer alone. Today, engineers in every imaginable area of the transport and mobility sectors - from rail and aerospace, through to marine and even defence - are playing an increasingly prominent role in addressing the defining technology trend of our time: the push for zero carbon.
