When Sean Doyle left the UK's fire brigade service he found himself in the very pleasant position of having a lump sum sitting in his bank account so he was in the market for a new car. "I bought a Ferrari 348 but I really didn't care for it as I actually preferred the older Ferrari 308 I already owned so I sold the 348 and kept the older one. It sounds like I've got lots of money but I haven't," laughs Sean. After leaving the fire service he went full time as a London black cab driver, a job he'd previously done part time. Learning his way round London's roads wasn't the only knowledge gained as he bought John Parnell's book Original Mini Cooper and Cooper S. "It was a real light bulb moment. I looked at it and thought: 'I can do that'." Having had a Mini in his late teens to early 20s, he even participated in a few motorsport events, as he explains: "My last event was the Isle of Wight Stages. It sounds glamorous but the Mini was held together with tape and string."
