摘要

The current study aimed to investigate jarosite-cement blends for hydration process and mechanical behavior in pavement quality concrete (PQC) mixes. It includes evaluation of hydration heat evolved using an isothermal calorimeter and measuring mechanical performance using the strength test; for jarosite-blended PQC mixes. Additionally, for describing heat evolution curves in the current investigation eight variables (heat indexes) H-t, H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, and H-max have been considered based on heat generated during different time intervals and the maximum rate of heat evolution. The study found that the time to reach sulfate depiction peak increased with the increasing dose of jarosite in the jarosite-cement blends considered for the investigation. Further, the results showed that the quantity of evolved heat increased with the increase in the amount of jarosite as a partial replacement of cement, confirming the influence of jarosite on the hydration reactions. Moreover, the micro-study results of the jarosite-cement blends show that jarosite doses induce changes in the microstructure of the hardened concrete.
