Multifunctional transformation Looking from Munich's Ost-bahnhof, the new district is characterized by the silhouettes of tall chimneys, stacks of containers, and a temporary ferris wheel. In the midst of this an enormous AAHHH lights up unexpectedly, while at another position there is a WOW. This is the new werk12, a reduced building made up of stacked floor slabs and located at the heart of the site, which makes playful use of these letters to draw attention to itself. The site today known as "Werksviertel Mitte" can look back on a long and colorful history. The German Company Pfan-ni - a household name as a manufacturer of dumplings and pota-to-based convenience foods - set up its manufacturing plant near the railway tracks of the Ostbahnhof shortly after the Second World War.
