Japan’s continuing dependence on thermal power generation means that its aim of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 may depend on supplementing coal, oil and natural gas use with clean fuels. As a result, Tokyo is now focused on developing the regulatory framework to accelerate overseas and domestic investment in hydrogen and ammonia.
