China Molybdenum (CMOC) have acquired a 95% stake in the Kisanfu copper-cobalt project in the DRC from Freeport for $550 M. The government will retain a 5% stake. The project holds an estimated 6.3 Mt of copper and 3.1 Mt of coba and is located around 33 km southwest of Tenke Fungurume, which is 80% owned by CMOC as well. Freeport sold their 56% stake in Tenke Fungurume to CMOC for $2.65 bn in 2016, however the buyer passed up the opportunity to acquire Kisanfu for $50 M at the time.
