Permian Pushes US Oil Rig Count Higher

The US oil rig count crept higher in the closing days of the Orst quarter, data from oil-Oeld services provider Baker Hughes show, despite very little growth outside of the Permian Basin. The number of active drilling rigs targeting oil in the US grew by two in the week ended Apr. 1 to a total of 533, according to Baker Hughes’ data, its highest point in nearly two years.
