Silvard Kool and I left New York (JFK) March 5~(th) at lam for an 11 hour 55 minute flight on Qatar Airways flight to Doha, the capital of Qatar, with a 10 hour layover, then a 4:50am flight the next morning to Djibouti. Many of you will remember Silvard for opening the Captiva Island, COA Convention with a piano concert. Djibouti is the next country north of Somalia, and sits at the southern entrance to the Red Sea. Djibouti is a small country with only 195 miles of coastline and is 90% desert. Over 70% of the country's population live in the capital city of Djibouti, sitting on the Gulf of Aden. The country is shaped like the letter C, with the Gulf of Tadjoura nearly bisecting it. The official languages are Arabic and French.
